This DVD follows the fortunes of several potato growers and shows a variety of complex and expensive machines. Many famous names associated with farm improvements over the years include John Deere, a former blacksmith who invented the self cleaning plough as far back as the 1830's. As well as all the processes which the potato crop goes through we have an interesting feature on strawberry growing. When it comes to harvesting there have been many new inventions over the years and in a field in Mayroe we see a one man operated potato harvester in action. The one man is driving the tractor, the harvester does the work by itself. We also see a self propelled harvester, capable of processing 17 acres a day. This DVD tells everything about modern day 'potato men'.
